16kWh Home Battery: BRT-48300 51.2V 314Ah LiFePO4 Storage System

Created on 10.24
If you are sizing a home solar system and need a battery that can power the house through the night—or through a grid outage—16kWh is where most residential projects now land. The BRT-48300 is a 51.2V 314Ah LiFePO4 16kWh home battery built for exactly that job: wall-mounted or floor-standing, 6,000 cycles, and expandable to 128kWh by paralleling up to eight units.
This article covers the full specification, what the numbers mean in practice, and who this battery is the right fit for.

What Is the BRT-48300?

The BRT-48300 is a low-voltage (51.2V) lithium iron phosphate battery for residential and small commercial energy storage. It pairs with hybrid inverters through RS485 or CAN, and is designed for both new solar installations and retrofit backup projects.
It is a wall-mounted home energy storage battery in its standard configuration, and can also be installed floor-standing where wall load capacity is limited.

Why 16kWh Is the Practical Size for a Home

A 16kWh nameplate gives roughly 14.4kWh of usable energy at 90% depth of discharge — the figure that actually matters when you size a system.
In practice, that covers:
  • A full night of household load
  • 8–12 hours of essential circuits
  • A heat pump plus base loads
The 200A continuous / 240A peak output is the part most spec sheets hide. Many 16kWh batteries cap discharge well below what a heat pump or whole-home backup panel needs. This one does not.

What 6,000 Cycles Actually Means

At 6,000 cycles and one full cycle per day, the BRT-48300 is rated for more than 16 years of daily cycling — well beyond its 10-year design life. In real installations, the battery will usually outlive the inverter it is paired with.
That is the core economic argument for LiFePO4 over lead-acid in home storage. A comparable lead-acid bank delivers a few hundred deep cycles, needs ventilation and maintenance, and is typically replaced two to three times over the same period.

Scalability: Up to 8 Units in Parallel

One BRT-48300 is 16kWh. Eight units in parallel give you 128kWh — enough for a large villa, a small lodge, or a light commercial site.
Because the battery is low-voltage and parallel-only, expansion is straightforward: you can start with one unit and add capacity later without changing the inverter or rewiring the DC side. Note that series connection is not supported — capacity grows through parallel stacking, not higher voltage.

RS485 and CAN Communication

The BRT-48300 supports both RS485 and CAN, covering the communication protocols used by most hybrid inverters on the market today. In a real installation, this means the inverter can directly read state of charge, voltage, current, and temperature, and manage charging and discharging without an external controller.
For installers, this is the difference between a battery that integrates seamlessly and one that requires a workaround.

Wall-Mounted or Floor-Standing

The unit measures 525 × 282 × 922.5mm and weighs 126kg. Both mounting options are supported:
  • Wall-mounted
  • Floor-standing
Plan for clearance around the unit for airflow and service access, and keep the installation out of direct sun.

Temperature Range

Charging is rated 0–55°C; discharging −20–55°C. That discharge range covers cold-climate installations without a heated enclosure, which matters in northern Europe and high-altitude sites. For charging below 0°C, a low-temperature cut-off is required — standard behaviour on a well-designed BMS.

FAQ

How long will a 16kWh battery power a house?Around 14.4kWh usable at 90% DoD. For a home consuming 12kWh/day, that is roughly a full day of normal consumption, or 1.5–2 days if you run essential circuits only.
Can I connect multiple units together?Yes — up to 8 units in parallel, for a total of 128kWh. Series connection is not supported.
Will it work with my inverter? It communicates over RS485 and CAN, the two protocols used by most hybrid inverters. Confirm the specific protocol list with us before ordering.
What is the difference between wall-mounted and floor-standing?Same unit, different bracket. Wall-mounting saves floor space; floor-standing avoids wall load issues with the 126kg weight.
How many cycles does it last?6,000 cycles, with a 10-year design life.
Do you offer OEM/ODM?Yes — private label, custom housing colours and packaging are available.
